How Physical Fitness May Promote Success

A man's health can be judged by which he takes two at a time - pills or stairs". Joan Welsh

Having a fit physique is one of the most important aspects of having a healthy mind and soul. Being physically active keeps the mind sharp, alert and attentive. The ability to grasp increases with physical activity; studies have shown that children who are active in the field tend to do much better in studies and other extra-curricular activities. This raises some eyebrows since a few schools have taken away physical education to concentrate more on studies.

Athletes are mostly active and tend to concentrate more and ingest new information in a more effective way. It gives them the ability to think out of the box and be innovative. Since the mind is fresh and active, athletes are able to perform much better. A lazy and lethargic person is not very active and is very slow in performance as well. They do not have the tendency to be creative and are always slouched in a corner at home and everywhere they go. Most of the athletes look to their parents as role models as they would have molded them into what they are today. The disciple of physical fitness should be taught at a very young age. Fit parents can guide their children through a healthy and disciplined childhood which in turn helps the children to do well in sports and athletics. Their athletic performance is improved and their social skills, even better.

Physical fitness leads to mental fitness which in turn leads to success. A sound mind and a healthy body do not allow a person to make hasty decisions, involves no panic and always takes the right turn in life.
Physical fitness can also be made fun. A monotonous session of workouts and exercise can be boring. Athletes try to make it more fun and challenging by adding in some music, setting goals and overachieving those goals. It also keeps the mind sharp which in turn keeps the body and mind alert. This can be done only when the body is also sound. A normal, middle aged human being is probably going through all the ups and downs of a regular person; family, friends, work, children, health and so on. By keeping the body fit almost all your problems take care of themselves. A happy man is a man with a happy heart and this can only be achieved by maintaining a fit body.

Being fit does not mean being thin. You may be a little overweight but you can be fit by eating healthy and being active physically. It also means you probably are doing much better in life than the skinny ones. A skinny athlete does not mean that the person is physically active. His body might just be the skinny type. The size of the body does not count in this aspect. For athletes, the power in their legs, their stride and their sound body is what counts.

Lots of corporates encourage their employees to be physically fit since their physical structure affects their mental strength which in turn affects their work standards. They offer yoga, zumba and other aerobics involved sessions free of cost to their employees to maintain the standard of the company. Nobody wants a lazy and slow paced employee. Overall physical education is a must to people of all ages and most important to children as their intake of knowledge at that age lays the foundation of their youth and their future. The most important needs for an athlete are their leg strength and muscle power and physical fitness contributes to all these aspects.
